DRILLING MANAGER
Description:
• Accountable for the development of a Well Engineering Organisation based in a European Capital and in each local area of operations to support the planned work programmes. This includes agreeing staff budgets, recruitment of key Well Engineering Staff (e.g. Rig Superintendents, Drilling Engineers, Well Site Supervisors, Logistics and Materials specialists etc.)
• Amenable for building a Well Engineering team with a strong performance culture whilst ensuring that all well planning and operations activities are performed in compliance with established Well Engineering standards
• Providing top level drilling services to the Country Managers, lead the Country operations and engineering teams and provide support to daily drilling operations.
• Liase with Government representatives and other local stakeholders as well as with Asset Team Leaders to establish future requirements for drilling rigs and support personnel
• Act as the contract focal point for all the global drilling rig contracts and other associated third party service contracts
• Establish a technical engineering support and well review team for global operations in the headquarters.
• Accountable for the development & implementation of robust cost management processes throughout the global drilling operations covering well cost estimating, contracting, procurement, costs tracking and final reconciliation and close-out.
• Responsible for ensuring that the local Drilling Managers have a standard to monitor daily costs are that they are managed and accurately tracked.
• Develop cost and time performance improvements across all areas, with targets set to improve on benchmarks.
• Prepare drilling project budgets and schedules for each operations area to meet Asset Team exploration and production expectations.
• Set HSE goals and targets for drilling campaigns, providing leadership to the execution team in all HSE issues.
• Accountable for HSE aspects of rig selection and acceptance
Experience Required:
• A degree or recognised qualification in Engineering or Science is preferred but is not essential for a long term experienced drilling professional.
• A minimum of 10 years experience in operations management in a senior role.
• Drilling and Operations Contract negotiation and management experience and skills are required.
• Project management skills with demonstrated ability to manage rig commissioning, start-up and operations activity in numerous areas of the world.
• Proven excellent interpersonal skills and cultural sensitivity through demonstrated ability to work with local crews and contractors, authorities, a diverse multi-disciplined Consultant populated drilling engineering and operations teams.
• Advanced HSE management skills based on the practical application of a systematic approach to HSE management in an operational environment.
• Spanish, French and Arabic language skills would be advantageous but are not essential.
