These job descriptions will then be used for job evaluation purposes by GASCO.

MARATHON PETROLEUM INDONESIA LTD

Name of FPSO: Kakap Natuna
Marathon Petroleum Indonesia Ltd, Kakap KH Field is one of the most remote locations in the world being situation approximately 1,000 miles north of Jakarta in the South China Sea.
The field is situated in a water depth of 277 feet and came on stream with a flow of 12,000 bpd, rising to 22,000 bpd.
First stage separation is carried out at wellhead on the platform before transfer to the tanker which is connected to a SBM yoke, CALM mooring system allowing rotation through 360 degrees.
The vessel is a 136,000 DWT tanker with a storage capacity of 760,000 bbs of crude. The FPSO barge facility is the first in the world with complete production facilities including the flare on board one facility.
Marathon would only consider specialist personnel possessing the highest qualifications and the most relevant experience in this highly specialised type of FPSO project. The company were awarded the contract to provide the specialist personnel against intense competition.
At Marathon’s request our Marine Superintendents first joined the vessel in Japan to advise on certain modifications then being carried out.
On completion of the tow from Japan to Malaysia , for the final fitting of the yoke, additional procurement and engineering personnel worked on board the tanker. The tanker was finally towed into Indonesian waters and positioned approx 300 kms north west of Natuna Besar in the South China Sea. The towing operation was under the captaincy of our Marine Superintendent throughout.

The Technical training instructors were directly involved in the preparation and production of training materials and the implementation of Marathon’s Kakap Field Training Programme under the supervision of the Training Manager. The Technical Author was instrumental in the preparation of training materials and introductory information for use by Indonesia personnel working on/offshore, however, his prime function was the re-writing of manuals directly relating to the Kakap project including:

- FPSO Marine Operations/Procedures

- MPI Aircraft Safety Procedures
- Kakap Safety Booklet
The organisation was also directly involved in assisting Marathon Oil in the screening and the recruiting of middle management direct hire staff who at a later stage became actively involved in the Kakap project.

Engineer in charge of all technical matters in connection with the design and construction of the North Geragai Project.
