Services for production of Gas and Condensate Onshore.
Gas is produced at wellhead pressures of 5000 psi. from over fifty wells. The total production ranges from 7,500 to 150,000 MMSCFD. The gas flows through fin-fan air cooling banks and then via chokes, gas exchangers and separators where water and condensate are extracted. The dry gas is further cooled and compressed for onward transmission to the Liquid Natural Gas Plant via a 24" pipeline.

MARATHON PETROLEUM INDONESIA LTD

Name of FPSO: Kakap Natuna
Marathon Petroleum Indonesia Ltd, Kakap KH Field is one of the most remote locations in the world being situation approximately 1,000 miles north of Jakarta in the South China Sea.
The field is situated in a water depth of 277 feet and came on stream during March 1986 with a flow of 12,000 bpd, rising to 22,000 bpd by the end of the year.
First stage separation is carried out at wellhead on the platform before transfer to the tanker which is connected to a SBM yoke, CALM mooring system allowing rotation through 360 degrees.
The vessel is a 136,000 DWT tanker with a storage capacity of 760,000 bbs of crude. The FPSO barge facility is the first in the world with complete production facilities including the flare on board one facility.
Marathon would only consider specialist personnel possessing the highest qualifications and the most relevant experience in this highly specialised type of FPSO project. The company were awarded the contract to provide the specialist personnel against intense competition.
The company’s involvement is this project commenced during the latter half of 1985. At this stage the tanker was undergoing final modifications at Mitsubishi’s shipyard, Yokohama, Japan. At Marathon’s request our Marine Superintendents first joined the vessel in Japan to advise on certain modifications then being carried out.
On completion of the tow from Japan to Malaysia , for the final fitting of the yoke, additional procurement and engineering personnel worked on board the tanker. The tanker was finally towed into Indonesian waters and positioned approx 300 kms north west of Natuna Besar in the South China Sea. The towing operation was under the captaincy of our Marine Superintendent throughout.

The RRC refinery is located in Rayong province about 200 kilometres southeast of Bangkok.
The refinery has a capacity of 145 MB/SD. It is designed to process Middle East crudes, but will incorporate adequate flexibility to process a wide range of crudes and feedstocks, including Far East and indigenous crudes. The refinery will produce a full range of products such as LPG, unleaded motor gasolines, jet fuel, low sulphur automotive diesel and fuel oil.
The refinery configuration is selected to permit product yields to be highly slated towards middle distillates, to as much as 54% of total products, to meet the Thai market demand.
Delton, through its Thai Company Delton KSP, operates a contract to provide Commissioning, Start-Up and Operations and training Support Services, supplementing RRC’s own incumbent organisation.

Delton’s Singapore partner provided on-the-spot expertise for comprehensive studies on efficiency for one of the largest Refineries in South East Asia, processing approximately 500,000 bpd of crude by primary distillation and catalytic reforming. The study and follow-up action thereon will covered facets of operational efficiency such as:

- Quality Control (Laboratory)
- Overall Refining Organisation
Included were quantification of operator workloads, analysis of refinery organisational aspects, revision of operating procedures, investments in labour saving technology and operator training requirements.

In this remote area, to assist in storage and export of the crude oil, an oil tanker was chartered by the Oil Company to act as their storage facility.
Crude from the onshore wells was pumped offshore through a 12” pipeline via a SBM installation to which the storage vessel was permanently moored, through a prefabricated meter bank onboard the vessel into the tanks for storage.
A Yokahama fender was attached around the storage vessel to prevent damage during the loading of export tankers which moored alongside.
With the exception of the senior Barge Master, all the other expatriate personnel including Barge Masters, Electrical, Mechanical, Instrument Technicians, Oil Movement Controllers and Boatswains together with the indigenous deck crews were supplied on contract.

Production of crude at these fields is from free-flowing wells. The oil passes through separators on the platforms and is then pumped via 18” and 24” pipelines to the shore installations.
The separated gas is compressed in stages on the compression platform from 115 psi. to 600 psi. and then pumped ashore as feedstock for the LPG plants.
Delton’s Indonesian partners, personnel were engaged in all stages of these offshore operations including the production from wellheads to pipelines, maintenance of all pumps, generators, instruments and equipment. The operating personnel ensure the safe and efficient day-to-day running of these platforms.
UNOCAL

Natural gas is imported from the offshore field via a 24” pipeline and collected in a surge tank where it is mixed with solution gas brought in from a crude stabilizer producing 110,000 barrels of feedstock per day.
After treatment of these gases, the products are sent for storage and export. The total throughput of the plant is 300 MMSCFD of propane, butane and condensate.
Delton’s Indonesian partners provided diagnostic teams of electrical, instrument and mechanical engineers together with technicians, welding inspectors, warehouse co-ordinators, laboratory personnel and corrosion engineers. |
