Delton deliver Assessor Training to Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation at their Lagos HQ

Delton were approached by Petroconsult to engage our training services for a ‘train the assessor’ programme. They required an external facilitator to deliver the Training.  The course was an Oil and Gas Assessor Training programme (non-accredited) with the broad objective to prepare Internal Assessors to acquire 360-degree assessment skills to effectively assess participants based on predetermined criteria such as; leadership attributes, training methodology, course modules etc. for Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) Lagos, Nigeria.

PETROCONSULT ENERGY is a UK based Oil & Gas Consultancy company, providing Oil & Gas training and consultancy services to various IOCs and NOCs.

The workshop was for Nominees from organisations who implement Human Capital Management and the acquisition and enabling of people and their performance through competence and evidence based processes to measure their capabilities in order to meet stakeholder expectations and deliver world-class results.

The aim of the workshop is for those who assess and measure behavioural, leadership and other attributes, functional knowledge and skills of people through all stages of the employment life cycle, to ensure the integrity of business operations and satisfy applicable legislation.

It covers the concepts and principles of assessment and a range of direct and indirect assessment methods that can be applied through a systematic approach assessment. Time will also be spent looking at how self-assessment and feedback from others can enhance the process.

The workshop also looks at how those being assessed are engaged and given feedback and how to ensure there is a quality assured, consistent and aligned approach to assessment throughout the organisation.

By the end of the workshop participants were able to describe, state or demonstrate:

  • The concepts and principles of evidence based assessment process
  • The four stages of the assessment process
  • The uses, benefits and limitations of a range of direct and indirect assessment methods
  • The purpose and value of feedback throughout the assessment cycle
  • How to deliver constructive feedback and manage conflict and disputes
  • How to develop and implement a standard approach to assessment in an organisation
  • Legal requirements that impact on the assessment process
  • How to carry out an assessment using direct and indirect methods of assessment

It was an interactive and learner focused workshop that was built around a series of presentations, exercises and case studies. Time was provided to reflect on what had been covered and experienced to enhance understanding and learning transfer. During the workshop participants completed an open book exam to confirm learning.
